We will explore:
– a philosophical understanding of CFT as developed by Professor Paul Gilbert
– neurological aspects of the body’s responses to perceived threat and how compassionate self-soothing tools reduce physical and psychological stress responses
– resistance to self-compassion and how to work with this in more complex clients who have entrenched shame and critical self-beliefs often presenting with chronic mental health difficulties
– the use of some CFT tools such as a self-compassionate image and writing a compassionate letter
– how to help ourselves/clients develop a ‘kind mind’ and incorporating mindfulness approaches into daily living
– how CFT can develop grounding and healthier coping tools in complex clients where we have to offer more time limited therapy
The workshop is offered in a friendly and accessible space(with disabled access) and includes refreshments and a buffet lunch. Vegetarian diets catered for.
Student discount of £10 per ticket.
